Personal Trainers

Our team of dedicated fitness professionals are serious about providing you the best, safest, and most enjoyable fitness experience possible. They adapt their programs to the needs of each class member and make sure to 'mix things up' to keep the energy flowing! Everyone on our staff is a certified fitness instructor in their area(s) of specialty. They work to stay on top of the latest trends in the world of fitness.

 

We also have certified Personal Trainers on staff who will work with you individually to meet your personal goals. Whether you are rehabbing from an injury, losing some weight, or just buffing up, these Trainers can help you get there. 

 

Dave Clark is a USA Triathlon Certified Coach and USA Cycling Certified Coach and is available to help you achieve your swimming, cycling, and overall fitness goals. Dave works one-on-one with his clients to maximize their fitness and performance capacity through development of their technical skill and physical conditioning. Dave knows how to challenge his students and bring out their very best.

 In addition to Personal Training, Dave Clark coaches the RVR Master Swim program. The program, made up of both competitive and fitness driven swimmers, takes place in the fall, winter and spring. Dave’ swim coaching focuses on cardiovascular fitness, swim technique and lifestyle and nutrition choices.

John Norton and his wife Judy started their own personal training business in 1993. They added indoor cycling to their offerings in 1995, owning and operating the first Spinning® program in the state of Arizona. They moved to Glenwood Springs in 1996 where their Spinning® program also became the first in the entire Roaring Fork Valley.  John has trained 100’s of clients as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor at the Hot Springs Athletic Club, Aspen Glen Club, New Castle Family Fitness, and River Valley Ranch. In addition to personal training and indoor cycling, John has significant experience in nutrition for optimal health and weight loss, sports conditioning, triathlon training, and Tai Chi.

Kallie Carpenter lives at RVR with her husband and two sons. Her mission is to support your fitness through a holistic approach. Cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strength training, proper nutrition, and mind/body connection are all integral for lifelong health. Judy Haynes was a competitive swimmer at an early age and was thrilled to discover Master's Swimming as an adult.  Swimming competitions led to triathalon competitions, which led to a career change into fitness and wellness. Judy believes that moving is essential to holistic health of living beings and that stillness is illness.  Pain and inflexibility causes avoidance of certain movements which causes more life limitations and a downward spiral into disability.  For her, assisting someone to move well again, to engage in pleasurable activities without pain, is the greatest reward.  All exercises are developed based on the client's special circumstances ans life tasks, limitations, and guiding principles of science.  Functional training uses a variety of modalities including soft tissue myo-fascial release, standing stretches, and task related strengthening.  If an exercise is meant to improve someone's sport, it should look like a component of that sport.  A shoulder stretch for golf should look like part of the swing to be authentic.

Certifications: NASM - National Academy of Sports Medicine, ALTS Masters Swimming Adult Learn To Swim, Gray Institue - Multiple (Soft Tissue, Chain Reaction, healthy hips, back, feet, etc.)
