Trash and Recycling
On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, the Board of Trustees approved a contract with Mountain Waste & Recycling to provide residential trash and recycling service within the Town of Carbondale. Though most of the town will transition to this new service on September 30th, River Valley Ranch has a contract with Mountain Waste & Recycling through March 31, 2020. Therefore, RVR homeowners do NOT need to sign up with the Town of Carbondale until Spring of 2020. We will provide further details as the time approaches. In the meantime, you can read about the service and pricing options on their website here.
Trash will be collected one day a week, every Tuesday between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm. As always, your trash may be placed curbside NO EARLIER THAN 6:00 a.m. and must be taken in NO LATER THAN 8:00 p.m. on collection day. Trash and recyclables are picked-up on the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I own a lot; will I be billed for trash/recycling service?
A: No. Empty lots or a home without a Certificate of Occupancy will not be billed.
Q: I dispose of my trash at my nearby business; will I be billed for RVR trash/recycling collection?
A: No. Residents who dispose of their refuse themselves will sign an agreement that they will not have service at their residence by another hauler. Keep in mind that the Town of Carbondale does not permit garbage drops anywhere.
Q: Can I choose to use another trash hauler?
A: While residents may use a hauler other than MWR, you will still be billed for the RVR community contracted service as well. So, you would be opting to pay twice for trash and recycling services. Please remember that the primary purpose of this program is to reduce truck traffic on our streets.
